INTRODUCTION
Welcome to the abstract submission system for the Council on Social Work Education’s 52nd Annual Program Meeting, presented together with the 4th National Gerontological Social Work Conference and the 9th University of South Carolina Technology Conference.

Wednesday, February 15, 2006 – Sunday, February 19, 2006
Chicago, IL

Social Justice through Social Reform

AGREEMENT
Persons submitting an abstract are doing so with the understanding that they agree to abide by the conditions and policies provided below, as well as the decisions of CSWE’s Council on Conferences and Faculty Development and the abstract reviewers.

All individuals wishing to submit an abstract should first read the complete APM abstract submission guidelines here. NGSWC guidelines are available here. Abstract submission for the Technology Conference will be handled by USC. Check the CSWE Web site in coming weeks for more information.

APM Authors
An individual may submit only one abstract as primary author for the APM. No author may be listed on more than three (one as primary and two as nonprimary, or three as nonprimary) presentations within the complete APM program. This includes Special Presentations, Faculty Development Institutes, Curriculum and Administrative Workshops, and other programmatic sessions (including sessions held as part of the NGSWC and the USC Technology Conference). No authors may be added after the submission of the abstract.

Individuals are not required to be current CSWE members in order to submit an abstract. However, all accepted presenters must be either current CSWE individual members or be eligible for a waiver. The primary author is responsible for ensuring compliance with this requirement for all presenters.

Waivers are granted on a case by case basis when:
  • The author is a social work/allied discipline practitioner and/or
  • The author is an academician from outside the US and is a member of their local educational society or IASSW and/or
  • The author is a full-time baccalaureate and/or master's student.
Proof of licensure, membership in a local society and/or student status may be requested of authors requesting waivers.

NGSWC Authors
An individual may submit two papers as primary author for NGSWC and also appear as co-author on other abstracts.

There is no membership requirement for NGSWC.

Abstracts
Abstracts must not be submitted to the Annual Program Meeting or NGSWC if the work will have been previously published or presented at another meeting prior to the start of this meeting (the paper must be withdrawn if this occurs).

If your abstract is accepted for presentation at APM, you are required to submit your completed paper or PowerPoint presentation to CSWE no later than 10/21/05. Your materials will be included in a CD-ROM distributed on-site to all attendees, unless you indicate refusal of publication in writing to CSWE at apm@cswe.org.

Completed papers or PowerPoints are not a requirement of NGSWC. NGSWC will distribute abstracts on CD-ROM.

Meeting Attendance
All submitters of accepted abstracts are expected to register for and attend the meeting. If an emergency arises and the presenter is unable to attend, he/she must notify CSWE in writing at least three days prior to the meeting’s start date that he/she is withdrawing the abstract or naming a substitute presenter. All notices should be emailed to apm@cswe.org (or gero-edcenter@cswe.org for the NGSWC). Noncompliance or an inability to either present or line up an alternative presenter will be noted and recorded by CSWE.

CSWE cannot accept special requests for presentations to occur at a specific time, nor on a specific date of the meeting. All presenters must be available to present at any time during the conference. The dates and times of the conference sessions are as follows:

February 17, 1:00 pm - 6:00 pm
February 18, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm
February 19, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

Registration Fees
All accepted APM and NGSWC presenters are required to pre-register for the APM. If presenters are not registered by November 30, 2005 they will have their session withdrawn and removed from the Final Program.

All presenters are required to pay the appropriate registration fees. Authors who receive a membership waiver are still required to pay the appropriate non-member registration fees. The waiver does not grant complimentary registration for the meeting, it only waives the requirement for membership in CSWE in order to present an abstract.

Notification
When you submit an abstract, a confirmation message will be sent to you as soon as you submit your e-mail address. This message will remind you of your abstract ID and password, and of the location on the web where you can see what you have submitted. You should also write down your ID and password as soon as they appear in the Abstract Control Panel (the left-hand frame in your browser window) in case your submission confirmation message is lost or delayed.

AV Equipment
AV equipment provided free of charge for oral session presenters to use at this meeting will include an LCD projector and screen only. Presenters are required to bring their own laptop if they need one for their session. Additional AV equipment will be available for a fee. Forms to order additional A/V equipment will be sent with acceptance notifications.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION
IMPORTANT: Please be sure to provide a valid, long-term e-mail address with your submission, as this address will be used for all further communications (including acceptance/rejection notifications) regarding your abstract. Please do not use an AOL.com email address, as they often reject mass emails, such as those sent by CSWE. Information will only be communicated via e-mail.
